Apprentices take centre stage

On Wednesday 5th of July, Sam and Shannale joined AHOY’s Fundraising & Challenge Team Leader, Dan, at an evening event held by Natwest.

Natwest are currently funding our “Pathway to Employment” apprenticeship programme and the event was for Natwest employees to meet beneficiaries of their grants.

Sam joined us in 2016 and recently successfully passed his Activity Leadership apprenticeship and now works for us as an Assistant Instructor, and says:

“It was great to meet lots of interesting people and finding our more about other charities that have benefited from the Skills and Opportunities funding and the work they do. I would like to thank Natwest for inviting us along for the evening”

Shannale joined in 2017 and is working towards achieving her apprenticeship by Spring 2018.Here’s her account of the evening:

“It was amazing to be part of an event where I got to share my experience so far with the AHOY apprenticeship and share with people that AHOY is a charity which gives and not just takes. At first I was nervous to speak in front of the crowd, but I was made to feel extremely comfortable and confident in your presence.”

Both Sam and Shannale spoke confidently in front of the audience about their AHOY apprenticeships, chatted to other guests and were excellent Ambassadors for The AHOY Centre.
