Legal & General OARSOME challenge 2017

Over the past 3 years,  The Real Assets department at Legal and General have provided amazing support to The AHOY by taking on the AHOY Oarsome Rowing challenge, and for the past 2 years the group have decided to pull together their own challenge on the Thames.

On Thursday 6th July, 14 teams – 7 from Legal & General and 7 from their clients and associates arrived at the AHOY for their 2017 challenge, rowing the 8.5 (ish) mile route to Chelsea Harbour.

It was an all hands on deck approach from the AHOY team to ensure the event ran smoothly and that all 84 rowers arrived at the finish safely – and of course in the quickest time for their team!

Following the briefing and obligatory pre row selfies, the first teams were on their way just after 7pm with the final team hitting the water by 7:30 pm.

All crew members were smiling and looking excited for the challenge ahead – clearly they didn’t read the small print as to what was in store.

With a slack tide, it wasn’t going to be an easy row, but the teams dug their oars in together and with the encouragement from their Coxswain made good time along the route, with the first team powering home in 1hr 13mins – and the smile still remained!

With the final team passing the finish line in 1hr 40mins – they had done it! Challenge Complete! An amazing achievement by all involved and a well deserved medal!

Huge thank you from the AHOY goes to Jonathan Holland and Angela Kain from Legal & General Real assets for helping to bring this day together and their continued support.

Well done to the AHOY watersports team for delivering another successful OARSOME challenge!
