Glovers Raise a Glass for AHOY

A warm AHOY welcome was given on Wednesday 29th November to Master, Alvan and Chairman of the Events Committee and member of the Charity Board, Jonathan Isaacs, from the Worshipful Company of Glovers.

The Worshipful Company of Glovers, or as Dan recently renamed them on their previous visit, The “Wonderful” Company of Glovers!!, has a long history and was formed in 1349 by glove makers in London who wished to protect the high standard of their craft and was granted its Royal Charter by King Charles I in 1638.

They help with the education and training of young people, providing bursaries for students at schools and sponsoring an annual student glove design competition. All of which means that they are now very much part of the modern City and are a lively and purposeful Livery Company for today plus building for the future.

Back in August they held a Wine Tasting fundraising event here at AHOY and we were lucky enough to be one of their beneficiaries so today they have come to formally present us with the fundraising cheque. .

We are extremely grateful for this wonderful funding and as a small token of our thanks, Josh & Joshua, two of our current apprentices, presented Master Alvan a Certificate of Gratitude from us all.
